Project Beacon is an independent nonprofit organization providing accessible, patient-centered gender-affirming care to transgender and gender-diverse youth in Massachusetts who have been clinically evaluated and deemed medically eligible. We were established to expand access to gender-affirming care in Massachusetts for those who face policy restrictions or barriers which are not aligned with medical best practice.
Care is delivered by licensed clinicians and grounded in established medical standards, including the American Medical Association and the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH) Standards of Care (SOC v8). Our approach is designed to ensure that patients who are medically eligible can access care in a way that is timely, appropriate, and supported.

Access to gender-affirming care for transgender and gender-diverse youth is increasingly constrained — even for those who have already been clinically evaluated and determined to be medically eligible. Barriers related to provider availability, geographic access, cost, and system capacity continue to limit care.

Project Beacon was created in response to these gaps. Our goal is to build a sustainable, patient-centered model that expands access while maintaining high clinical standards and continuity of care.
We are building deliberately with a focus on long-term viability, responsible growth, and alignment with evolving clinical guidance.

Services are delivered through a telehealth-first model to reduce barriers to entry and support patients across Massachusetts. In-person clinical services are coming soon and will become available when medically appropriate, ensuring that patients have access to the full scope of care they require, while still maintaining their existing primary care relationships.
We are committed to providing evidence-based care that is individualized, clinically appropriate, and aligned with established standards.
